self-doubt

Have you ever doubted yourself? You know you are good at something but there is a little inner voice trying to convince you that you are not as good as you think you are. The one that reminds you all the other people who could be better than you and several other reasons why you are not qualified to do what you need to do. I have had self-doubt too and I still do sometimes. There are many times I second guess myself, I worry about how well I have done something and keep wondering whether my performance is even good enough. If you have ever doubted yourself, this article is for you.

Why do you doubt yourself?

Sometimes it’s just because I looked at someone else’s work and it felt like they were doing way better than me. Falling into the trap of comparison. Other times it is just me chasing some idea of perfection which seems to be elusive. Whichever the case, self-doubt does more harm than good.

I want to ask you, dear friend, why do you doubt yourself? Is there a reason why sometimes you feel like you are not good enough? I will go on to ask again, who put this idea in your mind? Who told you that you are not good enough? Maybe it is your parents who said you will never amount to anything or a spouse who never finds a good thing to say about you. Could be you are spending too much time around people who are constantly criticizing you and finding fault in all you do. Or maybe a boss who discredits your idea long before it even leaves your lips.

They belittle you, ignore you and disrespect you. They make it seem like you are difficult to love. The truth is, it does not matter who it is, they are wrong. You have something unique to offer to the world that nobody else can. Your greatness has been suppressed for far too long. You are enough. Yes, you are capable! Allow the lion in you to roar, let the lioness arise.

You are enough

Deep inside you know I am right, you have been holding back from revealing your true self to the world. Let me inform you that your playing small does not serve anyone right, including yourself. Block all those voices that are speaking negativity into your life. Give a deaf ear to those that have ill motives and let them watch you. Stop believing the lies of the enemy.

Believe in yourself

Child of God, believe in yourself. It is the best thing you can ever do for yourself. You have everything it takes to be great. There will be many to tell you otherwise. There are others who will not be happy when you excel but you have to rise above your critics. Immerse yourself in the Bible, speak to yourself positive affirmations, encourage yourself. Choose friends who are positive and distance yourself from the naysayers. Invest in your self-development. Read inspirational books that remind you your worth.

You are responsible for your life

Whatever you do, remember that you are responsible for your life. Guard your heart against negative people, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Say this to yourself and remember it every time you are faced with challenges, “I am the only problem I have and I am the only solution.”

[clickToTweet tweet=”I am the only problem I have and I am the only solution.” quote=”I am the only problem I have and I am the only solution.”]

Until you take full responsibility for your actions and the results you obtain, nothing is going to change. Stop blaming everybody else for your problems, stop blaming it on the circumstances. Take charge of your life. Identify your weaknesses and your strengths but do not dwell on your weaknesses, focus on your strengths and become the best you can be in those areas. You are well able to become all that God created you to be. Dear friends, daughters, and sons of God, arise and shine for your light has come.

Excerpt from Marianne Williamson’s book A Return to Love

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness

That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small

Does not serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking

So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,

As children do.

We were born to make manifest

The glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;

It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we’re liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

  1. “I am the only problem I have and I am the only solution.” — This is a mantra I really need in my life right now! Literally just wrote it into my bullet journal after reading this post. Thanks! 🙂
